OUR STRATEGY
MDP Strategies (formerly MDP Consulting) works with community and
nonprofit leaders to maximize their mission-driven potential. Our
strategy is to help organizations manage change by making optimal use
of their internal and external resources.
Founded as MDP Consulting in 1992, MDP Strategies has served more
than 40 clients and their affiliated networks—encompassing hundreds of
organizations. These networks represent businesses; nonprofit
organizations; public television stations; chambers of commerce;
religious and civic membership groups; universities; military; and the
federal government.
TOOLS TO MANAGE GROWTH
MDP Strategies teams with organization leaders to develop Boards of
Directors and staff and to manage change factors related to rapid
growth. MDP Strategies offers the tools to help creative,
entrepreneurial individuals create stable, accountable, and
mission-driven organizations. MDP plays a key role in facilitating the
ongoing engagement of all stakeholders in an evolving visionary
environment. Our emphasis is on innovation and responsiveness to
customer needs while establishing the required governance, program, and
operational resources.
BENCHMARKS TO SECURE FUNDING
MDP Strategies helps organizations create benchmarks for securing
funding resources and for meeting program reporting requirements. We
have implemented dynamic management structures to meet client funding
requirements for a number of organizations, including The Omidyar
(EBay) Foundation, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention (OJJDP), The UPS Foundation, The W.K. Kellogg Foundation,
The Ford Foundation, The Corporation for National Service, Lutheran
Brotherhood, and The Points of Light Foundation.
A LEADER WITH A VISION
MDP Strategies is led by national management consultant Mary
Phillips Quinn. She has a vision to build healthy communities
nationwide, in part by helping individuals, organizations, and
communities to fulfill their mission-driven potential through dynamic
organizational development practices. These practices honor the
contribution of board, staff, volunteers, and clients as equal
stakeholders of mission and vision and agents of change. Creating space
for dialogue and continuous improvement is a key strategy employed by
Phillips Quinn to promote integrity and quality in each consultation.
Since 1989, Phillips Quinn has provided hands-on consultation and
facilitation of leadership groups in hundreds of communities
nationwide. She facilitated an outcome-based planning process among
business leaders, mayors, and governors at The President’s Summit for
America’s Future. She is the author of numerous publications, articles,
proposals, and training designs, and she has given presentations to
thousands of participants from diverse groups.
Phillips Quinn offers expertise in a wealth of areas, including
nonprofit management, mentoring, volunteerism, youth and family
development, welfare to work, and community building.
Before launching MDP Strategies, Phillips Quinn was Director of
Mentoring Initiatives for United Way of America, where she consulted
with founding board members in the startup of mentoring partnerships
and programs. She received training in multiculturalism issues from The
Multicultural Institute/International Counseling Center at George
Washington University, certification in nonprofit management through
the national American Humanics program, and a bachelor’s degree in
Interpersonal/Organizational Communication from Arizona State
University. Phillips Quinn has volunteered as an active member of
national advisory boards, local community boards and participated in a
variety of community service projects over the years.
